Christmas Poem

Where’s Santa? (Richard Shaw’s cats)

Christmas is upon us

A happy time of year

A few bits to stock up on

Then it’s time for a beer

We’ve cancelled our parties

All following the guidance

To avoid spending Christmas

Alone with the virus

We’re living with covid

Life for sure is much tougher

Must check on our neighbours

Be there for each other

We pray for those taken

Too soon, it’s unfair

Those fighting the illness

We are with you, we care

(James Leo’s Dogs)

But life must go on

Let’s enjoy our days off

Let’s smile and be grateful

For what we have got

We’ve heard by the way

That Santa’s a star

He’s just tested negative

His last-minute PCR

A stocking for a loved one

Whether they have two legs or four

A gift carefully chosen

One they will adore

(Helen Powell’s cat)

Give them a cuddle

A hug or a kiss

Let’s enjoy Christmas

Make it one not to miss

Tuck into your turkey

Your beef or whatever

Lift up your glass

And enjoy Christmas together
